Client Description

St. Jude Medical, Inc. develops, manufactures, and distributes medical devices for the worldwide cardiovascular market. It has more than 100 sales and administration offices around the globe. Its products are sold in more than 100 nations.

Challenge

St Jude Medical’s financial system was split up into multiple divisions that independently handled their plan-in, plan-out, and actuals from over 18 unique Legacy source Systems and ad hoc processing. Due to the this highly disparate data, SJM experienced difficulty organizing this data allowing analysis to take place.

The Clearview project was an effort to synchronize their multiple RevScogs, Opex, and Workforce sources into a central location for reporting and planning from their Hyperion Essbase Cubes.

Solution

The solution for St Jude included extracting RevScogs and Opex data from SAPBW as well as Flat files into their Oracle environment using DataStage as the middleware solution and then applying the appropriate business rules and transformations to integrate the different data sets before loading them into their target Hyperion Planning and Essbase applications.

Benefits

Due to the creation of this interface, many redundancies were discovered which allowed St Jude to retire a multitude of systems and report exclusively from Hyperion providing a single source of truth and a clearer view of their data.
